COVID Future Wave 1 Data Available for Download!

At long last, we are excited to report that our Wave 1 dataset is officially published and available to all for download and use!

The dataset contains 8,723 responses to the COVID Future survey collected between April and October 2020. Respondents were recruited using a combination of methods: a quota-sampled Qualtrics online survey panel (N=5,250), random email list purchased from InfoGroup (N=1,898), and the remainder (N=1,575) from a combination of social media posts, direct email invitations, news media coverage, and word of mouth. Importantly, the dataset includes weights that should be used so that results are representative of the U.S. population.

The data include information about travel-related behaviors and attitudes before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as expectations for behavioral choices after the pandemic is no longer a threat. The survey questions cover a wide range of topics including commuting, daily travel, air travel, working from home, online learning, shopping, dining, and risk perception, along with attitudinal, socioeconomic, and demographic information – all the stuff you’ve seen if you’ve looked at our other blog posts!

For a more detailed description of the dataset, please see our manuscript, currently posted on arXiv, but hopefully forthcoming soon in Scientific Data.

To download the data, go to the COVID Future ASU Dataverse, where you can download the data as well as the codebook and the actual survey instrument. You will be asked to let us know who you are and what you plan to do with the data before you download it – we just want to keep track of who is using it and what it’s being used for! If you publish work based on these data, please make sure to use the DOI to cite it.
